Ed Autry voicework bio 

In the summer of 1972, Ed Autry started his career as a Top 40 disc jockey with Radio Southwest, Incorporated  at Top 40 station KOLE 1340 in Port Arthur, Texas.

In 1977, he joined the United States Air Force and became a broadcaster with the Armed Forces Radio and Television Service.

His first broadcasting assignment was in southern Turkey, about 30 miles north of the Mediterranean Sea at Incirlik (IN-jur-lick) Air Base, Turkey (1981-1983) He served mostly in television news, serving as news reporter, weekend television news anchor, hosted a television news magazine program, and directed the news at 6 and 10. Then, finished his tour of duty doing radio from midnight to 6 a.m.

Returning to the United States, his next assignment was at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida (1983-1984) where he served as Non-commissioned Officer In Charge of broadcasting at Headquarters Air Defense Weapons Center. There he supervised another broadcaster and wrote, voiced and produced weekly television news story, called "The Tyndall Report", which aired on the Channel 13 in Panama City.  

In 1984, Autry received orders for Seoul, Korea. There, he served at Headquarters American Forces Korea Network (AFKN), Yongsan Army Garrison, in radio (1984-1986). He did the afternoon drive-time Top 40 radio show called "Rollin' Home" which was carried by all six radio affiliates throughout the Republic of Korea. He was given additional duties only one year later when he was selected as AFKN Network FM Supervisor and Chief Programmer for the AFKN-FM Superstation which was a 24-source Control 16 automated music system from Broadcast Electronics. At the same time, he also supervised six other broadcasters.

When he rotated back to the States he was assigned to a location where he served as a video production supervisor, overseeing classified video productions for the FBI, CIA, and National Security Agency. 

After ten years of active duty, Ed joined the U.S. Air Force Reserve and was assigned to the Office of Public Affairs at the 442nd Tactical Fighter Wing, Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base, Missouri, where he served as media liaison for both national news media and that of the Kansas City metro. He also served as staff writer and staff photographer for the wing newspaper and voiced citations for medals at public ceremonies. He continued to serve in these capacities when the 442nd was relocated to Whiteman AFB, Missouri.

Later, he served as a News Director K35C0, a television station in Cameron, Missouri. He was both the 'stand up reporter' and television news anchor. He wrote the Standard Operating Proceedures for the fledgling station and was a member of the Radio and Television News Directors Association (RTNDA).




  Still serving as a U.S. Air Force reservist, Ed was assigned to Kelly
  AFB, Texas, where he served at Headquarters Air Force News
  Agency, 
 being the voice and producer for the  "Air Force Radio
  News
". His daily program was heard world-wide through all
  Armed Forces Radio outlets.


Note: Ed Autry was awarded two Air Force Commendation medals and an Air Force Achievement medal for his service as a military broadcaster.
